Every year mayoites look forwards to children’s day. However this year being the silver jubilee year of mayo it was even more special.
The day began with us walking into a vibrantly decorated mess and being served our favorite breakfast . we definitely wouldn’t miss the huge “ Happy ‘C’ day” which had been lovingly put up by the teachers.
The Assembly that followed was a pleasant surprise for most of us as we loved watching our teachers perform. It began with ma’am Anshu taking on the role of school captain for the day and announcing the usual “stand at ease” and attention we thoroughly enjoyed the sufi song and the medley of English song that followed . Ma’am vasunathy’s keyboard solo was also a delight. The assembly ended on a high note with a beautiful prayer and a speech by Ma’am Singh who got us all exited by informing us that the assembly was merely a curtain raiser to the fun filled things that lay in store for us.
The day proceeds as usual as we could not afford to neglect our studies with our half yearly exams round the corner.
But our teachers kindly made up for this by serving us a scrumptious lunch. Probably for the first time, the mess was silent, without having to be told, as everyone was too busy enjoying their meal.
We were informed that there would be fun games in store for us as well as high tea.
4 ‘o’ clock the entire school gathered in their games kit on the soccer field eagerly awaiting the events.
Loud music blared from the speakers setting us in the mood as the 10thies and sc’s began the rugby match. The two teams played well and the 10thies emerged as winners, the score being 5-2. The pre sc’s then played the three legged race in which they were paired with teachers.
