Model United Nations

A Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations where students from schools and colleges come together as representatives of various countries, debate over an agenda which is given to them a few days before, following the rules and procedures of actual United Nations councils. This is an opportunity for the students to show their skills in public speaking and forge fruitful alliances besides learning about international affairs and the UN Assembly.

This challenging activity started in Mayo College Girls’ School in the year 2004 after which there was no looking back. Over the years our school has participated in several national and international MUN’s. At National level we have participated in DSMUN, Dehradun, CMUN, Mumbai, BVC MUN and WORZ MUN, Chandigarh, DPSMUN, Delhi, LMC MUN, Kolkata, Harvard MUN, Hyderabad, MGD MUN, Jaipur, PWS MUN, Gurgaon.

Over the course of three years, this activity has become very popular amongst the students of our school and our school was also recognized by International MUN’s such as Cheong Shin MUN, South Korea, the IVY League MUN, Philadelphia, Yale Model Government Europe, Budapest, Harvard Model Congress Asia, Hongkong . Our girls have performed exceedingly well and bagged several awards. Our started hosting MCGS MUN in 2012 where students from leading Indian schools participated. After three years of conducting MUN more than 400 students are professionally trained in this activity. This activity has surely benefitted both the school and the students.

This activity has encouraged the students to become dynamic leaders with independent personalities. When they enact in the role models of diplomats of various countries it has also helped them to master their research skills and better general awareness on world politics, which would be of importance for advanced studies.  Children who have become confident orators who can speak extempore in worlds pressing issues.
