Shooting was started in Mayo College as a sport in the year 2005, and the school participated in the 1st IPSC Shooting tournament the very same year. Since then, through blood, tears and dedication, 35 of our shooters have represented the school at the IPSC Level. Shooting has inculcated fierce determination, grueling perseverance and above all, true sportsmanship in our girls.
In 2008, Mayo had hosted the IPSC Shooting Championship, a feat it has repeated again on August this year. With a total medal count of 36 (Gold – 8, Silver – 17, Bronze – 11), the MCGS team performed admirably well, sharing the Champion’s Trophy with the girls’ team from Daly College, Indore. It was history in the making as our students fought neck and neck with talented shooters from all across the country. The tournament on the whole was a great success, and we hope to continue this thread of excellence through our future endeavors in this field.
The Shooting Team , under the guidance of our able coaches, has produced phenomenal results in other tournaments as well. Maheshwari Chauhan and Vishwa Patel of MCGS have secured places on the Indian National Shooting team. Recently, in the Youth and Junior Asian Games in China, Maheshwari Chauhan represented the country and secured a 5th position in the Trap Shooting Youth Category. Aishwarya Bedhotiya, parul Bedhotiya, Sarveshwari Kumari and Vishwa Patel have qualified the National Squad trials for 2014.
At present, our shooters have their sights set up for the XVIIth All India Kumar Surendra Singh Interschool Shooting Championship at Pune. We hope to encourage shooting par excellence for future generations as well, and to provide the best opportunities to all the shooting aspirants of MCGS.RESULTS
