The Silver Jubilee Memorial Debates, Multimedia and Quiz 2013 is a tradition carried out by our school annually to commemorate the 25 years of our school’s founding. This year the event commemorated on the 2nd of October as a tribute to the Great Soul of India, Mahatma Gandhi and the International Day of Non-Violence. The competition saw enthusiastic participation of prestigious schools from all parts of our country like- The Doon School, Dehradun; The Scindia School, Gwalior; Rashtriya Military Indian College, Dehradun; Mayo College, Ajmer; Yadavindra Pubilc School, Patiala; Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Pubilc School, Jodhpur; Step By Step High School, Jaipur; Sawai Mansingh School, Jaipur; Maharani Gayatri Devi, Jaipur; Vasant Valley School, New Delhi and The Daly College, Indore.
The Multimedia Presentation Competition witnessed new ideas, creativity and great technological knowledge. The topic for the presentation was “In All Fields and Phases of Life Women Are Becoming the Key Targets of Various Kinds of Atrocities”. The participants put forth promising and different ideas, and the event was won by Mayo College Girls’ School, while the runners- up were Mayo College, Ajmer.
The English Debates commenced with zealous participation by all the twelve schools, while four schools qualified for the Semi-Final Round, from where Mayo College, Ajmer and Scindia School, Gwalior sailed through to the Final Round. The Final Round included a new form of Debate- “Block and Tackle”, which was a challenge for the debaters . The Topic for the Modified Cambridge format of the first part of the Debate for the Final Round was “This House Believes That Justice Can and Never Should Come from the Streets”. The winning school was Mayo College, Ajmer and the Best Speaker (for) was Sugandha Shukla ,of Scindia School and Best Speaker (against) was Kushagra Agrawal of Mayo College).
The Hindi Debates saw enthusiastic participation from nine schools, from where six qualified for the Semi Final Round and eventually four for the Final round- Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun; Mayo College, Ajmer; Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer and Step By Step High School, Jaipur. The Topic for the final Round of the Hindi Debate was ““Bhartiya nari ki arthik atm-nirbharta parivarik vighatan ka karan hai”. The winning school was Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer while the runners-up was Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun. Best Speaker (For) : Anandita Singh Bhada of MCGS and Best Speaker (Against) was Rahul Dwivedi (RIMC)
The Quiz, was a new addition to the Silver Jubilee Memorial. Mr. Parnab Mukherjee, a media analyst and one of the foremost directors of the theatre movement in our country, graced the occasion as the Quiz Master. His eclectic knowledge and extremely creative ways of conducting the Quiz generated keen interest by both, the participants and the audience. Sawai Mansigh School,Jaipur were declared the winners of the Quiz, while Mayo College Girls’ School,Ajmer were the runners-up. Aditya Vikram from Vasant Valley School, New Delhi was awarded a certificate for the “Most Promising Quizzer”.
The Silver Jubilee Memorial Debates, Multimedia Presentation and Quiz, 2013 came to a close on the 4th of October. An enriching experience for all, the event was a platform for the “new thinkers” of this generation to come together to exchange ideas and knowledge.
