From the 14th to 16th of April, Mayo College Girls’ School hosted the 4th Annual Session of the Mayo College Girls’ School Model United Nations Conference which was attended by almost 330 delegates from 27 prestigious schools across the Indian Subcontinent.This year MCGS hosted schools like Gems Our Own Indian School,Dubai, The Doon School, Dehradun, Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai, Welham Boys, Dehradun, Assam Valley School, Maharaja Sawai Mansingh Vidhalaya, Jaipur and many more.


This year with the theme of ‘Uniting for Peace’, as suggested by our Principal ,Ms. Kanchan Khandke, MCGSMUN simulated 7 different committees: The Disarmament and International Security Council which discussed the Situation in Ukraine and Crimea, the Historic Security Council which discussed “The Situation in South East Asia with Special Emphasis on Nuclear Proliferation”, the African Union which tried to find solution to “The Crisis in the Central African Republic”, the Joint Crisis Cabinets of Iraq, Syria and USA deliberating over the “Situation in the Middle East with special reference to Combating the threat of ISIS” and a Press Corps, where the delegates explored the realm of Political Journalism by representing reporters from agencies such as  The Guardian, Reuters and  Al Jazeera .


This conference commenced on the 14th of April, 2015 with an opening speech made by the Director General of the conference, Shagun Bose. Our Chief Guest for the ceremony was Mrs. Sharda Subramaniam who is presently posted as the Principal Director for Northern Region States inthe office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, and had been a
distinguished member of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat .The Chief Guest then
addressed the gathering, further highlighting upon the plaguing issues of
the modern world- inequality, poverty and most importantly, lack of
understanding amongst nations. Thereafter the Secretary General, Rishinandini Kumari Singh delivered an inspiring speech and declared the MUN open.


During the course of MCGSMUN’15 delegates representing various nations discussed, negotiated and made efforts to rid the world of various crises. We also hosted a cultural progarmme called the “Global Kaleidoscope”, whose concept again was suggested by our Principal. It featured a variety of pieces ranging from dances and songs to skits which showcased the theme of ‘Uniting for Peace’


On the 16th of April the 4th Annual Session of Mayo College Girls’ School Model United Nations ended with the Closing Ceremony which began by a speech by our Conevener, Partivee Sharma. The Chief Guest for the Ceremony was Mr. Abhimanyu Singh. Mr. Singh completed his schooling from Mayo College Ajmer and in 2006, was assigned as Director of UNESCO’s office in Nigeria and in 2008 in China. Mr. Abhimanyu Singh talked about three important themes which the youth of our country needs to focus upon, mainly Education for All, Gender Equality, and Climate Change.


After this various awards were given to the delegates who exhibited excellent public speaking and professional research skills and demonstrated charismatic leadership skills. The Best Delegation award was bagged by The Doon School, Dehradun and the Best Delegation in Crisis Management was awarded to Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun. A number of other individual prizes were won by various delegates of various prestigious institutions. In the end, the Secretary General declared the 4th Annual Session of Mayo College Girls’ School Model United Nations closed.
