The Manch Pravesh (Odissi debut recital) of Anupreet K Broca, Harshika Seksaria, Shreya Jain, Naimisha Pradhan and Sara Pradhan was held at the School Auditorium on Sunday 2nd October 2016, at 4:00 p.m.
These five girls’ have been learning dance from Guru Seema Bansal Rai in Mayo College from standard IV. They have also attended the workshops conducted by Guru Miss Madhumita Raut. The girls’ in the final lap of their debut go to Delhi for a 10 day workshop for studying Odissi dance under legendary Guru Mayadhar Raut(Padamshri ) in the tradition of Guru-Shishya parampara. The chief guest for the evening was Mrs. Shovana Narayan. She is a Kathak maestro and an outstanding dancer. She has set a unique trend by redefining dance and often considered as a living legend in the field of art. She is the first ever professional dancer who combines a full fledged career as a senior serving civil services officer in the Government of India.
The show comprised of Manglacharan, Batu Nritta, Basant Pallavi, Dashavatar and Moksha. The team of musicians who had come from Delhi to play for this show were very good. The Odissi dance performance lasted for an hour after which the girls’ were given their diplomas by Mrs. Shovana Narayan.
The evening got over with high tea that the Batch of these five girls and the guest present enjoyed. Without the support of our Principal Ma’am Khandke the Manch Pravesh team would not have achieved their set goal. It has indeed been a great show.
