SUPW- SPEECH AND HEARING IMPAIRED ACTIVITY

11

On 15th of April, 2017 Ms Swati Jangid along with Mrs. Manju Agrawal held an interactive session with the students of class 9th-12th at Mayo College Girls’ School. We learnt the act of communication transcending the frontiers of language and experienced the simple joy of life. By interacting with them we had a firsthand experience to learn sign language.
Ms Swati Jangid is a former student of Badhir Vidyalaya and has completed her B.Com from Deaf Bilingual Academy, Indore. She is an excellent chess player and has won 2nd position in 18th National Deaf Chess Competition held at Taimur, Kerala. Currently ,Ms Swati is serving Badhir Vidhayalaya as a teacher.
It was indeed an enriching experience and we would like to thank the Badhir Vidyalaya community for conducting this session.

Week 2 :

“I expect to pass this way, but once. And any good therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to my fellow creatures, let me do it now, let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”

Mr. Rameysh Kumar, Trainer and Social Entrepreneur, based in New Delhi spent time with our fellow students at Badhir Vidyalaya on 22nd April, 2017.We started with the unique way of greeting each other that conveyed our feelings much more effectively than words could ever do. We showed them five videos to inspire these specially abled children teaching them to live their dreams. We emphasized on developing a healthy attitude to face this world and overcome all obstacles. We gave them a handout after each video that explained the motive behind the story written in very simple yet effective language to make them understand the purpose of the video clip. All the children were excited and expressed their emotions without any inhibitions. It was pleasantly surprising to know that their interpretation of various motivational videos was very much similar to our interpretation. Towards the end every child came in front and expressed his/her ambition in life. We all learnt to make the best use of what we are endowed with rather than lament on our weaknesses.
This session was a bigger lesson for us and we sincerely thank the Badhir Vidyalaya faculty as well as all our teachers for their kind cooperation.
