The Department of Psychology has been one of the most intellectually engaging and sought after department by the student community in Mayo College Girls’ School. The students engage in active learning through critical thinking and examining their belief system rather than just passively absorbing information.
Through the years the Department has been a hub of various activities that provide students the opportunity to explore multiple dimensions of the subject. In the past the Department has regularly organised talks on Lateral thinking, Leadership skills, Stress management, how to deal with people suffering from Alzheimer, Study and Examination Skills.
In the past few years our students visited the Sheroe’s Café in Agra which is run by acid attack survivors, Vrindavan Ashram built for widows, Anand Milk Union LTD., [Amul] Vadodara and Central jail in Ajmer.
The girls participated in an online National Psycholgy Quiz for students of classes11th and 12th organised by department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, Fortis healthcare. Inter House chart making competition is organised each year to bring forth the creativity of our students.
The Department encourages an atmosphere of debate and discussion while nurturing in young minds, an appreciation of new and varied perspectives on forces that interact to shape the human psyche.
The Department has been producing excellent Boards results every year. Seventeen of our girls secured 100% marks in Psychology in 2016.
