English Debating Society
The Debating Society at Mayo College Girls’ School is one of the most prestigious societies on
campus. The society believes that every voice matters and provides a safe space to the students to
express themselves freely on matters of national and international importance. Engaging discussions
are held weekly and the society aims to explore and encourage students to use their voice for the
right. Our voice can make heads turn, mouths open and revolutions start. It is our most powerful
weapon and in the Debating society we want students to be aware of exactly that. We practice
different styles of debating such as British Parliamentary, Modified Cambridge, etc. and conduct
various activities that help students think on the spot. We aim to foster critical thinking and
spread awareness about various issues that plague our society.
Our students participate in some of the most prestigious debates around the country
such as the Saroj Srivastava Debate, Slaters Debate, SRCC Debate, and the World Schools Debating
Championship and use the different techniques that they learn in the debate club to win laurels in
the same.
