MODEL UNITED NATIONS

MODEL UNITED NATIONS

“Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations, where students assume the roles of delegates representing different countries to address real-world issues using their assigned nation’s policies and perspectives. At MCGS, the MUN Club is committed to nurturing essential skills in diplomacy, persuasion, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving among students. Participation in the club involves staying informed about global affairs and embracing diverse viewpoints. This fosters knowledge expansion, promotes a broader mindset, and enhances confidence among students

Mayo College Girls’ School hosts one of India’s premier Model United Nations Conferences annually, named MCGSMUN, which attracts participation from over 22 schools nationwide. The inaugural edition of the conference took place in 2012, and since then, MCGS has welcomed more than 2000 students from across the country. Members of the MCGSMUN Club also benefit from various opportunities to attend and engage in conferences both nationally and internationally, including prestigious platforms like Oxford. These experiences allow them to apply their skills in practical contexts, interact with peers from diverse backgrounds, and deepen their understanding of global diplomacy and collaboration.

The theme of this year’s conference (2024) was “तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय,” which translates to “Lead from darkness to light.” Embracing this theme, we uphold our motto “Let There Be Light,” emphasizing resilience and optimism in challenging circumstances.”
